History of Two Weeks in Studio D: Berkeley COM TEAM Project

In early September of 2018, Karen Lile was asked to organize the use of 70 hours of recording studio time that belonged to Piano Finders, who had an outstanding credit at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA on Sept 1, 2018. Karen Lile has been an independent producer and client of Fantasy Studios since 1987. Piano Finders rebuilt the two Yamaha Grand Piano Pianos at Fantasy Studios used for ongoing recording sessions and two of the independent producers pianos that were at Fantasy Studios in September 2018. During this project, there were three pianos in Studio D at Fantasy Studios. They are listed below with their history.

1973 Yamaha CF 9' Grand Piano High Polish Ebony, Serial Number 1643700
selected for Fantasy Studios by McCoy Tyner
formerly owned by Bill Evans
rebuilt by Kendall Ross Bean of Piano Finders and moved back to Fantasy Studios on April 7, 2010
1979 Yamaha C7D 7'4" High Polish Ebony, Serial Number 2970196
rebuilt by Kendall Ross Bean of Piano Finders and moved back to Fantasy Studios on Aug 6, 2013.
formerly owned by Bill Evans
Currently owned by Fantasy Studios
1952 Steinway D 9' Grand Piano Satin Ebony, Serial No. 338662
owned by Karen Lile and Kendall Bean
rebuilt by Kendall Ross Bean at Piano Finders
moved to Fantasy Studios as a Producers Piano for the "Two Weeks Inside Studio D" recordings and film.

To utilize the Piano Finders contribution of 70 hours of recording sessions, Karen Lile organized a COM TEAM™, using a model that she has used for Independent Exectuive Producer projects since 1985.

ComTeam™ name stands for "A Cooperation Of Many Teams Expanding a Mission:. In this case, the members are those who were given recording studio time by Piano Finders. No more members can be added to the "Two Weeks Inside Studio D: Berkeley" COM TEAM™, because the studio time ended on September 29, 2018. This "Two Weeks Inside Studio D: Berkeley" COM TEAM™ was named by Karen Lile after the project was completed, to distinguish it from other COM TEAM™'s she has created in the past.

Special Thanks

We would all like to give special thanks to Jeffrey Wood and Robert Kirby for the behind-the-scenes work they did to book the space and support our recording sessions. They were a support for every one of the 20 sessions, including pre-production and post-production planning support. Thank you!
